Deepti Sharma to Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, 1 run

ballImg68.0kph

Full from Deepti on off, Chipo sinks her back knee and slogs it off the top edge. But there is no power on the shot so the ball goes on the bounce to long on for a single.

Sree Charani to Josephine Nkomo, no run

ballImg79.4kph

Excellent recovery by Charani. 11 in the first over, she concedes just a single off her second. Short outside off, Nkomo cuts it to backward point.

11.5

Sree Charani to Josephine Nkomo, no run

ballImg65.1kph

That was close! A textbook left-arm spinner’s delivery. Full on off, it draws the batter forward, then turns away sharply past the outside edge. Nkomo, though, keeps her balance and holds her back foot just behind the line when Richa breaks the stumps. The replay confirms that Nkomo is safe.

2:31 PM IST Is Nkomo stumped out? The side-on replay shows that her back leg is grounded when the bails are dislodged. NOT OUT.

Sree Charani to Josephine Nkomo, no run

Tossed up, full outside off, Nkomo chips it on the bounce to the right of the diving cover fielder. Mid off moves to her left and stops it with a dive.

Sree Charani to Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, 1 run

DROPPED! Shafali is the culprit. She frustratingly throws the ball back to the bowler. Good length and spinning in towards middle stump. Mugeri-Tiripano skips down the track, thumps it to the left of the fielder at mid off. Shafali moves across and gets both hands to it, but the ball just slips through her grasp. They pick up a single.

Sree Charani to Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, no run

Flat, full, outside off, reverse swept to short third.

Sree Charani to Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, no run

ballImg77.5kph

Dear me! That was far too casual from Chipo. Floated up, full and outside off, and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano strides across to flick, but the ball spins in sharply, beats the inside edge and clips the front thigh pad before deflecting back to the keeper. Richa Ghosh gathers it and sees Chipo wandering out of her crease, so she watches the batter closely before whipping off the bails. The side-on replay shows Chipo out of the crease, then strolling back in, with her leg in the air for a fraction of a second before it comes down again. The TV umpire rules that it was grounded by the time the zing bails lit up, and she survives.

ballImg72.9kph

A bit of yes and not, but no harm done. Shortish delivery from around the stump, on leg. Josephine Nkomo tucks it to backward square leg. Chipo is through for a single but is sent back from halfway. The fielder scores a direct hit at the bowling end but Chipo is well in by then.

Shafali Verma to Josephine Nkomo, 1 run

Darts in a full ball on the pads, Josephine flicks it behind square leg for a single.

2:22 PM IST Drinks Break! With 11 runs coming off Charani's last over, which was also Zimbabwe's most productive over, runs have just started to come for them. But overall, the bowling from the Indians has been very disciplined and they have managed to dismiss their in-form batters as well. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano is just starting to get into her groove and at least one of these two batters will have to park themselves to post a competitive score on the board. The pitch looks pretty good to bat on but there is definitely some help for the bowlers as well. Anything in the territory of 130-140 would be a great recovery for the Chevrons. India will simply look to keep picking wickets and restrict the tourists to below three digits. With that said, Shafali Verma is into the attack.

Kranti Gaud to Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, 2 runs

Overthrows! A sloppy fielding effort there. Back of a length, outside off, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano cuts it off the back foot to the right of backward point and calls her partner through for a single. Anushka Sharma is quick to attack the ball. She picks and throws to the batting end, but misses her shy and there is no proper back up on the leg side. Deepti Sharma dives to her right from short mid-wicket but the ball beats her. She could have been a bit alert there but the ball trickles to the outfield. It is chased down by Smriti Mandhana who sprints from mid on and stops it before the fence. Three runs taken.

2:05 PM IST Oh dear, Sharne Mayers is in some bother out there. She removes her helmet and is coughing and looking clearly uncomfortable, struggling to catch her breath. OUT! CAUGHT BY KAUR! A soft, soft dismissal. Pushed through by Sharma, full and on off stump. Beloved skips down the track and tries to loft it over mid off, but mistimes it off the toe end. Deepti Sharma to Beloved Biza, no run

ballImg70.4kph

Full on the stumps, blocked off the front foot.

2:00 PM IST End of the Powerplay. Unarguably, India have bossed it up with some really disciplined bowling. They have used 4 bowlers so far, and all have created a chance here and there. Zimbabwe need to step on the accelerator a bit. Or at least show some intent to score runs. The dot-ball percentage is quite high, so even if they are not getting boundaries regularly, they must look to rotate the strike, to at least keep the scorecard trickling.

Chipo survives a scare! Full from around the stump, outside off, going with the arm. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano goes for the reverse sweep but the ball passes close to her bat/glove before nestling into Richa Ghosh's gloves. An appeal for caught behind and up goes the finger. However, Chipo has opted for a review.  Oh, wow! UltraEdge shows a flat line. Now, onto the stumping review as Richa collected the ball and whipped the bails off. The side-on replay shows that Chipo's back leg is out of the crease momentarily but she manages to drag it inside the line before Richa dislodges the bails.

1:30 PM IST Righto, it's a pleasant Sunday evening with ongoing festivities of Navratri. And it's time to get underway in Raipur for this penultimate T20I. Both captains said that they were happy with the toss result. India would want their top order to step up this time around, while Zimbabwe would be hoping that they go a mile further and put on a complete performance. The two umpires walk out to the middle. And the Indian team is huddled up before they disperse and take their respective fielding positions. Kelis Ndhlovu and Beloved Biza are the two Zimbabwean openers. Kranti Gaud has the new ball and is ready to bustle in. Will she get swing? There's a slip in place and Kelis is on strike. Off we go...
1:10 PM IST The captain of India Women - Smriti Mandhana says they would have fielded first anyway. As a team, she adds, they want a convincing chase and will try hard to deliver it this time. On the surface, she says it looks similar to the one from the last game, and she credits the bowlers for doing a good job there. When asked about being reduced to 19/4 in that chase and needing to correct it, she agrees. Says India pride themselves on a really strong batting unit, which they definitely have, and she says they will look to improve in that department. On the prospect of winning her first series as a full-time captain, Mandhana says she is looking forward to playing some good cricket. Mentions that they don't think about what happens after the match and will simply come out and play well tonight. On team news, she confirms that India are unchanged.
1:06 PM IST The Zimbabwean captain - Josephine Nkomo backs the decision to bat first. Highlights that they got off to a good start last time, and the aim is to carry on the good work. On the plan for this game, she says they just want to rotate the strike more and turn more singles into twos. She is confident they will be good to go. When reminded about reducing India to 19/4 in the last match, Nkomo says that if they follow their process well, they can replicate that performance with the ball once again. It was a good feeling, she notes, and it has given the bowlers a lot of confidence. On the team combination, she informs that they are going with an unchanged XI.
1:03 PM IST India Women (Unchanged Playing XI) - Smriti Mandhana (C), Shafali Verma, Anushka Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Niki Prasad, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (WK), Arundhati Reddy, Sree Charani, Nandani Sharma and Kranti Gaud.
1:03 PM IST Zimbabwe Women (Unchanged Playing XI) - Kelis Ndhlovu, Beloved Biza, Modester Mupachikwa (WK), Sharne Mayers, Nyasha Gwanzura, Michelle Mavunga, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Josephine Nkomo (C), Francisca Chipare, Tendai Makusha and Olinder Chare.
1:01 PM IST TOSS - It's time for the coin to go up in Raipur. Both captains - Smriti Mandhana and Josephine Nkomo - are out in the middle. Team sheets have been exchanged. Ed Rainsford leads the proceedings. Smriti gives it a flick, Josephine calls Heads, and it is Heads. Zimbabwe Women have elected to BAT first.
12:52 PM IST Prasad banks on her basics - India's emerging batter, Niki Prasad, is up for a chat with the broadcasters. On how much her last knock has boosted her confidence, Niki says it has helped a lot. Going forward, she adds, she will stick to her basics and play the ball on its merit, whatever the opportunity. When asked about how she has prepared mentally for the next stage of her career, she says she had been dreaming of this day. Notes that the preparation was quite hard, but that hard work has paid off and she simply wants to grow from here. On the role of the WPL and the India A series, Prasad says franchise cricket and the India A games organised by the BCCI have given her more confidence. Says she was already put under pressure in those matches, so playing for India feels quite similar. As for the batting group's talk going into the game, she says the plan is to back their strengths and execute even better with the bat.
12:45 PM IST PITCH REPORT - Ahead of the second T20I in Raipur, Shebani Bhaskar says the action will take place on pitch number five, with the first game having been played on pitch number four. WV Raman likes what he sees. Notes that it is a black soil surface that has been rolled well, and the few cracks have grass growing through them, which means it should bind nicely. That is good news for the batters, and Raman assures that it is a pitch full of runs. Bhaskar then points out that the first T20I was light on runs and asks why. To which Raman gives the credit to the bowlers, who quickly worked out that they needed to take pace off the ball. Arundhati Reddy did that, he says, and so did Nandani Sharma, who used back-of-the-hand deliveries to good effect and picked up wickets. That, in his view, is why the Zimbabwe batters faltered. Bhaskar then asks what the batters must do to post tall scores today. Raman says there are a couple of lessons from those who made runs the other night. Details that Deepti and Mayers went straight down the ground whenever they looked for big shots, and Niki Prasad stayed on the back foot, waiting for the ball to come to her before playing her shots. Says those are the two routes open to the batters, and they are the right way to go on this surface, especially when the bowlers are not offering much pace.
12:39 PM IST Lady Chevrons raring to go again - Zimbabwe's 60 for 1 in the first ten overs was a small victory in itself against a quality Indian bowling attack. Their batters handled spin quite appreciably, and while the scoring rate never quite took off, they showed they could dig in and weather the pressure. And even with the ball, they courageously had India wobbling at 19/4. The challenge now is to turn that solid foundation into a genuinely substantial total. History, however, offers a cautionary note. In their entire T20I journey, the Lady Chevrons have crossed 150 only four times while batting first, and their highest successful chase remains just 120. If they are to trouble India again, they will need to rewrite those numbers in Raipur.
12:36 PM IST Firm favorites - Despite their struggles in the first match, India remain the team to beat, with a blend of seasoned campaigners and exciting young talent. They have repeatedly shown they can find a way to get over the line with the kind of depth they have got in both departments. Their batters, though, found timing difficult in the opener, especially against the new ball, hinting that the conditions demanded patience rather than early flair. Niki Prasad and Deepti Sharma set the blueprint for batting on such a surface, and India will want their top-order batters to take a leaf out of their book in Raipur.
12:34 PM IST Second act in Raipur - Hello and welcome to our coverage of the second of the third T20I in this historic T20I bilateral series between India Women and Zimbabwe Women. India dodged a bullet last time around and were made considerably uncomfortable at times before they crossed the finish line in the first match, whereas Zimbabwe have a lot of positives to ride on as they take the field tonight. The Women in Blue are 1-0 up in the series, and would be looking to seal the deal without any hiccups this time around. Zimbabwe on the other hand, have another opportunity to test the hosts.
12:30 PM IST ... MATCH DAY ...
9:16 AM IST Chapter 2 of 3 - It was far from the smooth start India, or a newly appointed full-time captain in Smriti Mandhana, might have imagined. Zimbabwe, unfamiliar opponents on this stage and meeting India for the first time in international cricket, dragged the Women in Blue into unfamiliar territory before the hosts found their way out. Now 1-0 up in the series, India can wrap it up with a win in the second T20I in Raipur. But for that they will have to put on a commanding performance this time around. Focus on ironing the wrinkles - India's top order bore the brunt of the scrutiny in the first T20I, as even the likes of captain Mandhana and former skipper Harmanpreet struggled to make any sort of an impact in the chase. Only debutant Niki Prasad and Deepti Sharma's rescue act spared India from what could have been an embarrassing outcome. While Deepti has repeatedly proven her worth with both bat and ball, it was Niki who stole the headlines with a composed innings that showed no trace of debut nerves, with her responsible and well-paced 39. There were encouraging signs with the ball too, with Nandani Sharma's highly economical 2 for 11 in four overs the standout performance. Sree Charani chipped in with a wicket at an economy of just 3.50, while Deepti Sharma went wicketless but kept things tight with her quality and guile. India's major focus will be on shoring up a top order that includes heavyweight names like Mandhana, Kaur, Shafali and the young Anushka Sharma, and giving the innings a more stable foundation. With the ball too, there is room for improvement after managing just one Powerplay wicket, even though the runs were kept in check. Ultimately, it is about tightening the loose ends and putting on a complete team performance. Spring in their steps - The Chevrons have far more to take pride in than to lament from their defeat. While India managed only one wicket in the Powerplay, Zimbabwe struck four times in the same phase, ripping through the Indian top four. Nyasha Gwanzura was the chief architect of that collapse, removing the top three in quick succession. With the bat, Zimbabwe made a strong start, with Kelis Ndhlovu and Sharne Mayers both crossing 40. Three partnerships of more than 20 runs gave them a solid platform, highlighted by a 53-run stand between Ndhlovu and Modester Mupachikwa. Zimbabwe came within touching distance of snapping their 18-match T20I losing streak in 2026, only for the moment to slip away. The task ahead is clear: more batters need to shoulder the responsibility, while the bowling group must keep doing the things that worked so well. Team form (Last 5 completed T20Is) - IND-W - WWWWW | ZIM-W - LLLLL. What to expect? Raipur has generally offered a balanced surface, with the new ball likely to offer some early movement before the pitch settles and becomes more conducive to batting. Spin could come into play as the game progresses, making the middle overs crucial for both sides. With India looking to fix their top order issues and Zimbabwe riding the confidence of a much-improved performance, expect a closely fought encounter under lights.
