Gautam Gambhir names two players who will have 'huge responsibility' when India face Pakistan in T20 World Cup
Gautam Gambhir feels it will be up to the senior members of the team to prevent the youngsters from being a nervous wreck ahead of the much-anticipated clash against Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2021.
India and Pakistan will renew their cricket rivalry at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 later this year as both teams were drawn in Group 2 of the tournament. This will be the first time in over two years that the arch-rivals will lock horns. The last time India played Pakistan was in the 2019 ODI World Cup. With bilateral ties between the two countries put on hold, ICC tournaments are the only occasion where fans of India-Pakistan cricket can watch the 'mother of all battles'.

As India and Pakistan get set to engage in another cricketing battle, a lot will be at stake, especially for the youngsters of the Indian team. The last time India and Pakistan played each other – at the Old Trafford in Manchester – the Indian team wore a different look than the one expected to feature in the UAE. And that is why former India batsman Gautam Gambhir feels it will be up to the senior members of the team to prevent the youngsters from being a nervous wreck ahead of the much-anticipated clash.

"When I played my first international game against Pakistan, I was probably much more excited and nervous as compared to some of the guys who've played a lot of cricket against Pakistan," Gambhir said while recalling his first game against Pakistan on the Star Sports show 'ICC T20 World Cup Special'.
"So, it is the responsibility of the senior guys to probably keep the younger guys calm; because ultimately, it's not the emotion that will win you a game of cricket, it is the contest between the bat and the ball that will end up winning you a game of cricket. So, people like Virat Kohli for example, or Rohit Sharma will have a huge responsibility when Indian takes on Pakistan."
Kohli and Rohit are two of the senior-most members of the team and its leading batsmen. In fact, Rohit scored a century at the 2019 World Cup match between India and Pakistan, while Kohli scored a half-century as his team extended its record against their sub-continent rivals to 7-0 at World Cups.
