India vs Australia Highlights, 2nd Test, Day 1: IND 21/0 at Stumps after Mohammed Shami picks 4 to bowl out AUS for 263

Labuschagne gets forward and creams the cover drive off Shami. That is unlike anything seen from Warner or even Khawaja thus far, was in total control. 

Second reverse sweep of the over, he had done it off the first ball and now off the fourth. Unlike the last time though, this time Khawaja places it perfectly and it runs to the boundary. A bye off the next ball as Bharat gets surprised by the bounce and turn and Australia are 60/1 in 17 overs. Khawaja on 35 off 55 balls.  

And finally one of the edges leads to a wicket. Round the wicket from Shami, straightens him up and the edge flies to Bharat. Warner never looked settled there,  he has worked hard but it hasn't really been a convincing innings.

India have been going with the short ball ploy from the pacers and this time and Warner has been hit twice. He somehow fended off one to the fine leg boundary off Shami. Then he hangs back and ramps the next delivery wide of slips. He knew exactly what he was doing there and that brings about the 50-run partnership for the Australian openers. Exactly what the visitors would have been hoping for. 

There have been quite a few inside edges that have just missed the stumps and balls that have beaten the outside edges of both batters and they have somehow survived the hour. Shami has replaced Siraj and so India continue to have pace from one end. Australia 37/0 in 13 overs. 

Khawaja gets an upper edge on a short one from Siraj through the vacant gully area. He moves to 24 off 37, Australia are 37/0

Khawaja had prodded the previous delivery in the air to short leg and the ball seemed to have bounced just in front of Iyer in that position. Khawaja responds by charging at the next delivery which is tossed up outside off and pumping it over the bowler's head to the boundary.

Australia 26/0 in 10 overs. Siraj ends that over with a brute of a bouncer. Warner rushed into the pull and seems to have top edged it to the helmet. He takes it off immediately and takes off his gloves but his face betrays no emotion as he returns Siraj's stare briefly. He has scored 6 in 30, Khawaja has scored 14 off 31. 

Siraj goes short of a length, Warner hangs back and punches it between point and cover.

Warner is able to continue and plays the remaining two balls. Then Khawaja sees off a maiden from Ashwin. This has been a stronger show from the Australian openers than what they managed in either innings of the first Test. 

Siraj continues after Ashwin's over. He bangs it in short against Khawaja for the third ball. Khawaja works it towards the leg side and Siraj then bowls the same ball. Warner is surprised by it, attempts a pull shot and inside edges it straight to his elbow. He is wincing in pain as the physio tends to him. Warner has got two precious run and been in the middle for 22 balls, he has  worked hard and he would hate to have to go off now. 

Warner remains on nought, Khawaja on 13 off 22 balls. Ravichandran Ashwin comes in for the first over of spin. 

Siraj needing some treatment after a fielding attempt off his own bowling for which he had to dive on the pitch. Khawaja has scored 12 in 11 balls, Warner has also faced as many but scored no runs. 

Khawaja again, clipped towards the leg side again and this time it is off Shami. It was too full and straight, Khawaja makes use of it and the quick outfield does the rest. 

Lot of devilish moment for the pacers. There was a big loud appeal from the Indians off the very first ball of the 2nd over bowled by Siraj, he had got a wicket off the first ball in the last match as well, remember. Siraj then veers towards Khawaja's leg and the left-hander clips it away to the boundary. Australia are 8/0.

Big appeal from India off the last ball of the first over and the umpire raises the finger. Warner reviews immediately and so the celebrations and the cheers from the home crowd die down just as quickly. Warner did get a feather of an inside edge on it and so, he survives. 

Shami bowling the first over. The first ball is angled down the leg side, it ends up swerving away from KS Bharat and runs to tbe boundary behind. Warner is then beaten on the outside edge by the second ball.

Cheteshwar Pujara given a guard of honour by his India teammates as the players make their way into the middle. Then Rohit calls the few players who excitedly ran ahead back for the team huddle. Eventually, David Warner and Usman Khawaja join the Indians on a hazy morning in Delhi. 

“It is an honour to receive this cap from you, legends like you have inspired me (On getting the cap from Sunil Gavaskar). I wanted to play for India as a youngster but I never thought I'd get to 100 Test matches. Test cricket is the ultimate format for me, it challenges you just like life. To all the youngsters, I'd encourage y'all to work hard to play Test cricket for India. I'd like to thank my wife, my family, everyone in BCCI and all my teammates who've supported me throughout this journey.”

Sunil Gavaskar is speaking a few words for Pujara, who is there with his father, wife and daughter with the team standing in the background. “I hope you become the first Indian to score a big hundred on your 100th Test match,” says Gavaskar, before presenting Pujara with a commemorative 100th Test cap.  

“We'd have batted first as well. The pitch is dry, but I think the application we showed last game put the toss away from the game. You just have to come out and play good cricket, and that's been the chat in the group to not worry about the toss. (On Pujara's 100th Test) We are all thrilled for him, his family is here as well. 100 Test matches isn't easy, there have been plenty of ups and downs in his career. One change for us - Shreyas Iyer is in for Surya.”
