India vs New Zealand Highlights 1st Test Day 2: NZ are in a strong position, and will look to increase their lead on Day 3.

India vs New Zealand Highlights 1st Test Day 2: New Zealand posted 180/3 in 50 overs on Day 2 of their ongoing first Test match vs India and lead by 134 runs, in Bengaluru on Thursday. NZ openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway made light work of India's first innings total of 46 and raced to a lead. NZ captian Latham (15) fell to Kuldeep Yadav, but Conway kept up the pressure. Conway build a strong partnership with Will Young, who fell to Ravindra Jadeja for 33 off 73 balls. Meanwhile, Conway departed for 91 off 105 balls, losing his wicket to R Ashwin. Rachin Ravindra (22*) and Daryl Mitchell (14*) remained unbeaten for New Zealand and will resume batting on Day 3....Read More
The Kiwis had earler dismissed India for a record low score of 46 with pacers Matt Henry and Will O'Rourke running riot. Matt Henry registered figures of 5/15 while Will O'Rourke returned 4/22. Veteran Tim Southee started the procession and he registered figures of 1/8. This is India's third-lowest score in a Test innings and their lowest ever at home.
The New Zealand fast bowlers made the Indian batters dance to their tune in the first session and the hosts were reduced to 13/3 before rain interrupted play in the 13th over. While Rohit Sharma and Sarfaraz Khan fell to Tim Southee and Matt Henry respectively playing attacking shots, Virat Kohli got an absolute snorter from the tall Will O'Rourke. Kohli and Sarfaraz fell for ducks while Rohit went after scoring two runs in 16 balls. Yashasvi Jaiswal has done well to survive the trial by pace and he had Rishabh Pant at the other end when the umpires led the players off the field due to ran.
The first day of the Test was called off without the toss taking place due to persistent drizzles but the conditions are looking far better for Day 2. Toss took place at 8.45am as scheduled, with play set to start half an hour early as is usually the case when the previous day has been hampered. While there is a cloud cover over the stadium, rains stayed away in the hours leading up to the toss.
Here are some highlights from IND vs NZ first Test Day 2:

India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: DROPPED! Pant gets a life!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: The wicketkeeper Tom Blundell would want the ground to swallow him up. Southee with a maiden 14th over and O'Rourke goes full and wide outside off third ball after banging a couple in first two balls. Pant chases it, edge to the wicketkeeper who drops a sitter. That was bread and butter stuff for Blundell, a real blunder. O'Rourke then bowls a no ball and a wide before the batters run two off the fifth and sixth balls. Pant on 11 off 20, Jaiswal on eight off 43.
India 23/3 in 15 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Rishabh Pant resumes the session with a four!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: First boundary for India and it comes off the very first ball after resumption in the first Test. O'Rourke pitches up the fifth ball of the 13th but it doesn't do the funny things it did whenever Henry and Southee did the same. Pant drives it through cover-point for a four. Length dragged back last ball, Pant lets it go. He is on seven off 13, Jaiswal to face Southee from the other end on eight off 37.
India 17/3 in 13 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Play to resume at 11.05am
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: That is the update from the BCCI. Some of the New Zealand players have made their way out already. Lunch has been postponed to 12pm.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: 'India were a bit too ambitious,' says Kumble
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Anil Kumble says on Jio Cinema that India did not take the right approach with the bat. Rohit Sharma fell driving, although it was an incredible delivery from Southee. Sarfaraz decided to go down the ground and smash Matt Henry, perished in the process. It was pretty much only Virat Kohli who got a snorter that no batter in the world could do much about. Rishabh Pant was almost dismissed due to a trademark reverse sweep out of nothing.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: The rains are here and the players are off!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: The covers are being rushed in as the drizzle, which was predicted around 11.30am, makes an appearance an hour early. The Indian batters would certainly be slightly releaved at that. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been quite impressive, once again showing that he has in him to play almost any kind of innings as per requirement. He is on eight off 37, Pant on three off 11. Will O'Rourke will be continuing his fourth over whenever we return.
India 13/3 in 12.4 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Drinks in the first session
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Well, it is Rishabh Pant out there and so we shouldn't be too surprised, and yet we are. The batters are trying to leave at the right time, play it late, and amidst all that, Pant brings out a reverse sweep out of nowhere fifth ball of the 12th from Henry. It lobs well away from the wicketkeeper and the batters get a run. As you were. What an extraordinary session of Test cricket we have had at the Chinnaswamy. It is the graveyard of bowlers in T20s but it is anything but that today.
Jaiswal on eight off 37, Pant on three off seven.
India 13/3 in 12 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: The trial by pace continues for India
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Rishabh Pant is out there with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Both players have to veer away from their favoured attacking style of play today. O'Rourke beat Jaiswal on the outside edge. Almost every delivery from the pacers are full and swinging away, making the Indian batters play it. So far, Jaiswal has done well to leave them and Pant hasn't fallen prey in his first two balls.
Jaiswal on eight off 36, Pant on two off two.
India 12/3 in 11 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: OUT! What a catch from Conway, Sarfaraz gone for a duck
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Sarfaraz looking to counter-attack and he may have survived had it not been for an absolute blinder of a catch from Devon Conway at mid-off. Sarfaraz steps down the ground and has a big swing at the third ball that he faces from Henry. It is a mishit but it goes go flying down the ground anyway, Conway dives to his right, sticks his hand out and the ball settles in it. What a start for New Zealand.
Sarfaraz Khan c Conway b Henry 0 (3)
India 10/3 in 9.4 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: OUT! It's a duck for Virat Kohli!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Oh Kohli seems to have hit it to leg gully, the fielder is claiming the catch but the umpires send it upstairs. It jagged right into his body, a nasty delivery that not too many can do anythng about, the third umpire decides that the gully fielder had his fingers under the ball. O'Rourke has dismissed Virat Kohli in his very first over in India
Kohli c Phillips b O'Rourke 0 (9)
India 9/2 in 9 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: First change for New Zealand
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Will O'Rourke, 23 years old and 6 ft 4 inches, bowling the ninth over and he replaces Tim Southee. New Zealand won't be too keen on giving their pacers long spells, it is a long first session. Virat Kohli is on strike.
India 9/1 in 8 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: OUT! Rohit cleaned up by Southee!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: And the wicket comes at last. It has been coming for quite a while and finally, Southee sends one scything through an expansive drive from Rohit. The Indian captain charges down the track, trying to drive off the length and put pressure back on the bowlers who are absolutely ruling the roost at the moment. He is done by the sseam and the ball which pitched on off takes the top of leg stump.
Big roars from the crowd as Virat Kohli walks out to a ground where he usually walks out in red as Faf du Plessis' opening partner in the night under lights. No T20 match atmosphere here at all though, he will have to somehow survive amid utterly some utterly fiery bowling from Southee and Henry.
Rohit b Southee 2 (16)
India 9/1 in 6.3 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Rohit and Jaiswal being tested to the limit
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: This is a vicious opening burst from Southee and Henry. Southee beats a very uncomfortable Rohit second ball of the fifth with one that seams and swings away from the Indian captain. Then he beats Rohit's inside edge next ball and then a full delivery, tempting the batter who obliges. It swings away and whistles past Rohit's outside edge. Rohit leaves the next delivery and then keeps out the last. He has scored just two in 13 balls, Jaiswal on five off 17.
We saw these two break the record for the fastest team fifty in Test cricket not too long ago. Now we see them trying to survive an absolutely fiery opening spell from the Kiwi pacers.
India 7/0 in 5 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: A lucky break for Rohit!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Henry with a celebrappeal first ball of the fourth over, it looked pretty close but the umpire shakes his head. The pacer begs for Latham to go upstairs and the New Zealand captain obliges. It is umpire's call on impact, possibly height and Henry cannot believe it. He walks back shaking his head and muttering niceties about umpire's call. Rohit taps and runs third ball, then an appeal for LBW against Jaiswal but this time, the bowler isn't keen after the umpire shakes his head. Rohit and Jaiswal with a real task in their hands at the moment.
India 7/0 in 4 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Both batters off the mark
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: A single each for Rohit and Jaiswal in that second over from Henry but this is going to be a hard grind for the two openers in these early exchanges. Rohit looked a little uncertain first ball, hangs out his bat and it goes past gully for single, luckily for the Indian captain. Jaiswal tucks the third ball away for a single. The fourth ball seams in, the fifth nips away and the last seams in as well. The sixth ball hit Rohit on the pad but the height saved him.
India 2/0 in 2 overs
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Maiden to start the match
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Jaiswal not swinging for the horizon unlike what he did against Bangladesh. He lets go of the first three balls. Then looks to run off the fourth but Rohit Sharma sends him back. Leaves the fifth as well and defends the last one solidly. Matt Henry to share the new ball.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Delay in start due to light
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: The players are all in position but it looks like the light isn't good enough. Rohit and Southee have a light conversation. It seems they are all waiting for those stadium lights to take effect.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Here we go!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: It has got a little darker, the light are on. Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma open for India. Tim Southee, captain until very recently for New Zealand and an all-time great in Test cricket, has the ball in his hands.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Time for the national anthems!

India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: The two sets of players standing adjacent to each other with the officials. New Zealand's national anthem comes first, followed by India's.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Virat Kohli close to 9000
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Virat Kohli is just 53 runs away from completing 9,000 runs in Test cricket. Kohli currently has 8,947 runs from 115 matches at an average of 48.89 with 29 hundreds and 30 fifties. He will be the fourth Indian to do so after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar and the 18th player overall.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Will Young filling Kane Williamson's boots
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: New Zealand are missing a legend in Kane Williamson for this Test, remember. It is Will Young who is replacing him in the eleven. Young is an experienced player but replacing a batter who is regarded as the greatest your country has ever produced is not an enviable position to be in at all.
New Zealand XI: Tom Latham(c), Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell(w), Glenn Phillips, Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Ajaz Patel, William ORourke
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: KL Rahul expected to be India's No.3
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: A change yet again for KL Rahul, which Anil Kumble jokingly says comes with the name, referring to the number of times his longtime teammate Rahul Dravid moved up and down the order over the course of his prolific career.
India XI: Rohit Sharma(c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: New Zealand going with three seamers
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Latham says that New Zealand have three spin options with Ajaz Patel and two all-rounders in Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra. So they stick to three seamers.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Two changes for India
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Rohit Sharma says that Shubman Gill is not "100 percent" fit and he sits out, Sarfaraz Khan in the squad in his place. Kuldeep Yadav replaces Akash Deep which means that India are going with spin.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: TOSS TIME!
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Rohit Sharma has won the toss and India are batting first at the Chinnaswamy.
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: The captains walk out in their Test blazers
India vs New Zealand Live Score 1st Test Day 2: Tom Latham and Rohit Sharma share a brief hug as they walk out into the middle where match referee David Boon is waiting along with Ravi Shastri, who is obviously the go-to conductor for tosses.
