India's star wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan produced a magnificent outing in the third and final ODI of the series against Bangladesh on Saturday. Kishan became the only fourth Indian player to score a double century in ODIs, as he smashed 210 off just 131 balls in Chattogram. Consequently, India posted a mammoth score of 409/8 in fifty overs and eventually registered a colossal 227-run win over the hosts.

While India did lose the series – having already faced defeats in the first two matches – Ishan Kishan's incredible performance will certainly leave the team management scratching its head over the playing XI combination in the format. Kishan came into the XI after India skipper Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the final ODI with a thumb injury; while Shikhar Dhawan remains the other opener, youngster Shubman Gill has also produced consistent performances in the role over the past few months.

Nevertheless, Ishan Kishan grabbed the opportunity with both hands and made the most out of it in the third ODI, and had a heartwarming reaction to his innings on his official Twitter account.

“I cannot put into words what I’m feeling right now but I’ll try. I’m overwhelmed by the love, the messages, the wishes. This is an innings that will stay in my heart forever, a day that I won’t forget, and these moments that I’ll always carry with me. Thank you for everything,” the youngster wrote.

Ishan Kishan broke West Indies great Chris Gayle's record for fastest double century in the history of ODIs; the Indian youngster reached the mark in merely 126 deliveries. Gayle had reached the 200-run mark in 138 balls. Ishan also became the fastest Indian to score 150 runs in an ODI innings, surpassing former opener Virender Sehwag for the feat.

Alongside Kishan, India's star batter Virat Kohli also ended a long wait for an ODI century, scoring 113 off 91 deliveries to go past former Australia captain Ricky Ponting (71) for most international centuries. This was Kohli's 44th hundred in ODIs.
