KKR vs SRH Highlights IPL 2022: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 54 runs

The last time KKR locked horns with SRH, middle-order batters Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi dictated the show. Tripathi scored 71 and Markram played an unbeaten knock of 68 as SRH had then completed a stiff 176-run chase in just 17.5 overs and won the match by 7 wickets.

If we look into the head-to-head numbers, KKR lead the chart with 14 wins. SRH have managed to defeat them on 8 occasions. 

Both the sides head into the contest with contrasting results. KKR are coming into the clash after beating bottom-placed Mumbai Indians emphatically by 52 runs. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, endured a 67-run drubbing against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Kolkata Knight Riders are dealing with their own problems. Seasoned campaigner Pat Cummins, who proved to be a vital cog in KKR's emphatic win over Mumbai Indians, has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL with a mild hip injury. He has already left for Australia for rehabilitation.

Umesh Yadav, who is having a good outing and is currently the leading wicket-taker from the Kolkata camp, missed the previous tie after pulling his calf muscle. It will be interesting to see if he returns to the playing XI or not.

If we look at SRH's batting, it has been equally disappointing at the top. Kane Williamson has failed to get big runs, managing just one half-century so far. His partner Abhishek Sharma, too, has failed to convert his starts into big totals. 

Meanwhile, if we look at the middle-order Rahul Tripathi will look to buck himself against his former franchise. 

Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram have been among runs but the batters will hope for some respite from their bowlers and look to restrict their opposition to a reasonable total if they bat first.

Umran Malik, who has risen to the occasion on the back of his breathtaking pace and some inspirational performance, which include a five-wicket haul against Gujarat Titans, has failed to replicate the same. In fact, in the last few encounters, Malik has looked off colour and has leaked too many runs without striking once.

Meanwhile, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Karthik Tyagi, the other two pacers have been expensive, adding to SRH's problems.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have been marred with injuries, which have cost them their premier spinning all-rounder Washington Sundar and death-over specialist T Natarajan.

Sundar had injured his bowling hand while playing against Chennai Super Kings, Natarajan had picked up a niggle. 

However, team coach Tom Moody was optimistic about the duo's return in the very important clash against KKR.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad unit kicked off the season with consecutive defeats. They then quickly turned the tables and marched to winning ways, securing five wins in a row. However, a series of losses have once put them back to where they had started the race from. With 10 points from 11 encounters, SRH can hope to make it to the next round only if they can win their remaining matches.
