Chris Gayle may be a self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’, but for former Australia opener Matthew Hayden, the real ‘Universe Boss’ is Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Hayden, currently in India covering the IPL as a commentator, showered accolades on Dhoni after he blasted 70 off 34 balls to help Chennai Super Kings pull off a five-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-scoring thriller at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday.

Hayden, who was part of the CSK franchise between 2008 and 2010, had a new name for Ambati Rayudu too. Rayudu, who blasted a 53-ball 82 and added 101 runs with Dhoni for the fifth wicket, earned the epithet of ‘Mr Iceman’ from the 46-year-old Queenslander.

Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore had posted 205/8 with AB de Villiers hitting a 30-ball 68. Chennai Super Kings, in reply, were struggling at 74 for 4 at one stage before Dhoni and Rayudu came together to set up an unlikely win. West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo hit some crucial blows towards the end as Chennai Super Kings reached home with two balls to spare.

This was CSK’s fifth victory in six matches and they are on top of the Indian Premier League standings. Their next match is against Mumbai Indians in Pune on Saturday.
