Anushka Sharma

Age 23IndiaINDIA
Right Handed All Rounder

Blessed with natural timing and a clean swing through the line, Anushka Sharma emerged from Madhya Pradesh as an exciting modern all-rounder. She possesses the temperament of a middle-order anchor and the firepower of a finisher, which makes her batting adaptable across match situations. While her primary strength lies in constructing an innings and clearing the boundary with ease, her utility bowling gives her team key tactical flexibility. In a cricketing ecosystem that places immense value on dual-skill athletes, she stepped onto the domestic stage ready to make an immediate impression.

Her cricketing journey started early on local grounds in Madhya Pradesh, where she quickly demonstrated superior technique and hand-eye coordination compared to her peers. She rose steadily through state age-group tournaments, playing for Madhya Pradesh Under-19 and several regional squads. Dedicated training and strong performances at the junior level earned her a place in the senior state setup. Her early domestic years were defined by hard work in 50-over and short-format games, where she learned the art of pacing an innings under challenging match conditions.

As she settled into senior domestic cricket, her reputation as a reliable match-winner grew rapidly. Representing Madhya Pradesh, Central Zone, and various India development teams, she produced match-defining contributions with the bat. Her List A numbers reflected rare consistency for a middle-order player, boasting a batting average well above 60. In domestic T20 competitions, her ability to score at a strike rate over 120 made her an invaluable asset, while her steady medium-pace bowling - capable of breaking stubborn partnerships - further elevated her profile among national scouts.

The major turning point in her career arrived ahead of the 2026 Women's Premier League season during the player auction held in late 2025. Entering with a modest base price of INR 10 lakh, her name sparked an intense bidding battle between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Giants. Her famous name drew lighthearted curiosity among fans, but cricket experts knew the auction frenzy was driven entirely by her raw talent and proven domestic form. Gujarat Giants eventually secured her for INR 47.5 lakh, establishing her as one of the most prominent uncapped signings heading into the tournament.

When the 2026 season got underway, she justified every bit of the confidence shown in her. Slotted in at number three for Gujarat Giants in their opening match against UP Warriorz, she announced her arrival in style by scoring 44 runs off just 30 balls. She shared a crucial century stand with captain Ashleigh Gardner, punctuating her knock with seven crisp boundaries. In subsequent fixtures, she displayed exceptional athletic ability in the outfield, saving critical runs and demonstrating that modern fielding standards are an integral part of her game despite a minor injury that briefly sidelined her during the tournament.

Her rapid rise culminated in international recognition when she received her maiden senior India call-up for the white-ball series against South Africa in April 2026, making her T20I debut with a sparkling 18-ball 27 cameo. She continued her upward trajectory through mid-2026 by representing India A on their overseas tour to England and in high-profile fixtures against Australia A.
