Player of the match Sabbhineni Meghana shined with the bat as she brought up her maiden T20I half-century and hit a match winning 69 off 53 balls. Fellow opener Shafali Verma announced her return to form with a patient innings of 46 off 39 balls before falling short of her fifty in the 19th over. Wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh chipped in with a quickfire 33 runs off 19 balls to ensure a massive total on the scoreboard by India.

Brought in as replacement to opener Smriti Mandhana, Meghana made most of the opportunity provided to her as she played aggressively from the very first ball. Her explosive batting saw India reach 47/0 in the first six overs. The 26-year old had her share of luck as she was dropped on14 by skipper Winifred Duraisingam. Later, the Malaysian skipper broke the opening partnership by getting rid of her but it was too late as India were on course of a big score by then.

In reply to India's 181/4, Malaysia lost their opener and captain Duraisingam for a duck as Deepti Sharma trapped her in front of the wicket. India's bowlers continued tightening the screws from the start itself and it paid off as Rajeshwari Gayakwad got rid of wicketkeeper batter Wan Julia in the 4th over. Malaysia women were stranded at 16/2 in 5.2 overs when the play was stopped.

India women will play its next match of the tournament against United Arab Emirates Women on Oct 04, Tuesday.
