A BMW car hit a divider and turned turtle before landing on the roadside lawn on Akbar Road in Delhi on Saturday night. The photographs of the flipped BMW car were circulated on social media.

The police said they have information that the car was being driven by a 26-year-old woman, whose father runs a coaching academy for civil services aspirants. A senior police officer said that the woman left the spot without informing anyone about the accident.

The injured woman driver was reportedly rushed to a hospital by her friends, who were accompanying her in another car. The woman was discharged after first aid, a senior police officer said.

The police control room was informed of the incident in the morning, when a police team, passing by the area, spotted the flipped car on the roadside. The Tughlaq Road police station officers have impounded the car and started an investigation.

The police are yet to question the woman.

Eish Singhal, the additional deputy commissioner of police, said that the woman was drunk at the time of the incident, but Singhal did not say how police had ascertained this. “We did not receive a complaint. We have booked the driver under the Motor Vehicle Act,” the officer said.
