Rain, dust storm hit Delhi, city plunges into darkness

Temperatures in the city, which hovered around 40 degrees Celsius, fell after the dust storm hit.

Delhi plunged into premature darkness on Saturday evening as a dust storm accompanied by strong winds and rain hit the city.

Temperatures in the city, which hovered around 40 degrees Celsius, fell after the dust storm hit. The humidity level was between 68 and 44 per cent.

Operations at the IGI Airport were hit owing to the bad weather. 18 flights were diverted due to thunderstorm and rain, ANI news reported.

The India Meteorological Department had forecast the possibility of light rains or thundershowers, accompanied by squalls, on Saturday.

The forecast is that the skies will remain cloudy with the minimum and maximum temperatures likely to settle around 31 and 39 degrees Celsius.

There was no report of damage to property or casualties as yet.
