Police said someone had abandoned the foetus on the roadside. Efforts to identify its parents are underway, the police said.
According to them, around 6pm, residents saw a monkey sitting on a terrace with the foetus, which they mistook for a child’s body. As they tried to chase away the monkey, it left the foetus behind and fled.
Deputy commissioner of police (south), Romil Baaniya said the residents informed the police control room.“Primary probe revealed it was abandoned by someone before the monkey lifted it from roadside. It looks like someone had an abortion and then got rid of the foetus. We registered a case under IPC Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) and efforts are on to identify the child’s parents,” the DCP said.
