“The BJP will make the sedition law so strong that even the thought of violating it would make one shudder in fear,” Union home minister Rajnath Singh told a public gathering in West Delhi’s Sagarpur area Monday.

Singh trained guns on the Congress, which had said around a month ago that if elected to power, the party will repeal the legal provision related to sedition.

“While the Congress talks about repealing the sedition law, we have been deliberating over fixing loopholes in the sedition law. It should be strong enough to fight every anti-national sentiment. You tell us, should anti-nationals be forgiven,” Singh asked a crowd of hundreds in a dusty, open ground.

The public address was Singh’s first campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s incumbent MP and West Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Parvesh Verma.

Congress leaders were not available for comment despite attempts to reach them.
