GURGAON: In what appears to be an act of revenge for ‘public shaming’, three men from Mewat allegedly kidnapped a 29-year-old woman from her father’s house and gang-raped her in the Aravalli hills in Badshahpur, 20 km from Gurgaon, last week.

The village panchayat had hauled up the three suspects a month ago for harassing the woman. They were let off after they apologised to her in front of the gathering.

Since then, she was staying with her parents at a village in Badshahpur along the Gurgaon-Sohna road.

The suspects are from Mewat’s Tauru area where the woman is married, police said.

The victim told police that around 11.30 pm on Saturday, when she was at her father’s two-room home with her four younger brothers, the three men barged in.

They abducted her on a two-wheeler, took her to the hills of Gairatpur Bas village, five kilometres away, where they raped her. They warned her not to reveal the incident, police said.

Her father, a security guard, was on night duty while her mother was undergoing treatment at a local hospital when the incident happened, police said.

She returned on Sunday morning and narrated the incident. Medical examination confirmed rape, police said.

The family registered a complaint against the three men at the Badshahpur police station. The complainant said they also beat up her in-laws in Mewat.

The woman was married in 2011 and delivered a girl who died some time ago. She said the men had been harassing her ever since she moved in with her husband – a driver.

“I know all three. They are youngsters who harass me whenever they see me,” said the woman.

The police lodged an FIR under sections 323 (voluntary causing hurt), 452 (house trespass), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 376-D (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code at the Badshahpur police station.

No one has been held, police said. “They are absconding. We are looking for them ,” said Praveen Malik, SHO, Badshahpur police station.

“They are known rabble-rousers. The entire village in Mewat knows them,” the woman’s father said.
