NEW DELHI: On July 14, minutes after he was convicted of killing 28-year-old IT executive Jigisha Ghosh , convict Ravi Kapoor fought with policemen outside court, demanding better transport back to prison

While walking back to the prison van, Kapoor abused assistant sub-inspector BS Tyagi for not getting a better vehicle to transport him.
The ASI, in a complaint at the Saket court lock-up diary, detailed how Kapoor abused and threatened him for over 15-20 minutes, before getting into the vehicle.
“Even on the day of his conviction, he was not showing any remorse and threw tantrums demanding a better vehicle. July 14 was the first time he was convicted in any case to date,” a police officer said, requesting anonymity.
This was the second time Kapoor fought with the officer, said police sources. A week before, Kapoor refused to get into the vehicle after his appearance at a Tis Hazari court. The police, in their report, alleged Kapoor called the ASI his servant and threatened to book him in a false case.
On August 21, Kapoor was sentenced to death for Jigisha’s murder in March 2009. The court took note of the jail and police reports that Kapoor was still a “threat to society” and beyond reformation.
Kapoor, on death row, is now undergoing trial for the murder of journalist Soumya Viswanathan. Four days ago, he and his associates were convicted of murdering cab driver Mohammed Naeem on January 7, 2009.
Sources said Kapoor is given a separate vehicle and does not share it with other prisoners. He allegedly runs a gang inside Tihar jail and is tagged as a high-risk prisoner. He is escorted by an assistant sub-inspector, a head constable and three constables from the Delhi Police third battalion, every time he leaves the court.
“We suffer the most because of prisoners such as Kapoor. This is not the first time, our officers filed a complaint,” an officer said.
Kapoor and his aides, Baljit Malik and Amit Shukla, abducted Jigisha from outside her house. They robbed her of her gold jewellery, two mobile phones, and debit and credit cards.
Her body was found near Surajkund in Haryana, about 20 km from her Vasant Vihar home.
