This would mean the university can admit only 1,440 students as against the 2,310 seats declared by DU.

Gaurav Arora from Faridabad, with a rank in early 800s, is now worried he will not be able to get a seat.

“The university released a schedule earlier where students up to rank 1,500 were called. Hopeful that I would qualify here I didn’t take admission anywhere else,” said Arora.

Citing legal hurdles, DU twice postponed the admission counselling for the law programme.

Aspirant Abhinav Arora wants to file a PIL against the seat reduction.

There are many students who have left Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Symbiosis University that they will get a seat in DU.

“I was called for BHU counselling but I didn’t go. Now with this delay I am worried that my one year will be wasted. University and the court should understand and not mess with the future of thousands of students,” said Govind Roy.

“I met with the students and gave them the BCI report. I have told them the university cannot do anything on the matter,” said Faculty of Law dean SC Raina.
