Water-logging will continue in Delhi, say traffic police

Despite claims by civic and road-owning agencies of completely de-silting the roads, the traffic police have found that over 100 major traffic junctions prone to water-logging are yet to be repaired.

“We send a list of all the traffic heavy intersections which are prone to water-logging to the civic and road owning agencies around March every year, so that the drains and sewer lines are cleared and any major pothole is repaired. However, when the monsoons arrive, the state of the roads is the same,” said a senior traffic official.

He also said the lack of timely road repair not only creates problem for commuters during heavy showers, but also doubles work for traffic policemen who are merely 5,500 in number.
