NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Women, which had summoned AAP spokesperson Ashutosh on Thursday to seek an explanation as to why he had defended Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar — sacked over his alleged involvement in a sex scandal, said that they were not “satisfied” with his response.

The AAP spokesperson had in a blog post said that Kumar had done no wrong and was involved in a “consensual” act.

The panel’s chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam said, “We did not find his explanation satisfactory. We will examine the matter further before deciding our future course of action.”

The AAP spokesperson told HT that he also submitted a complaint to NCW to probe the 2009 Gujarat snooping row involving a young woman and a senior IAS officer and the alleged role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was then the state chief minister and BJP chief Amit Shah.

“The NCW chairperson has promised to register a complaint against Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and initiate action on snooping of a woman,” he said.

However, the NCW chairperson denied that she gave any assurance to the AAP spokesperson on the matter. “Since NCW can’t turn away any complainant, I told him that we will look into the matter as per NCW’s mandate,” Kumaramangalam told HT.
