According to CBI sources, “Wadhwa’s company, Comfort Net, was the main overlays supplier of Swiss firm Nussli in Delhi and had handled the CWG contracts.”

Nussli India was awarded CWG contracts worth around R140 crore for supplying tents, portable cabins, containers and other items for six venues. It had signed a pact with a Canadian firm’s Indian unit to supply steel-based modular fittings for the venues.

The CBI has also arrested V Raju, an accountant with the public works department.

“Raju was arrested in connection with an FIR filed over irregularities in installing streetlights before the CWG,” said the source.

The CBI had in January lodged an FIR that the overlays contracts had been allegedly given at exorbitant rates. Naming OC’s director general VK Verma, the FIR had alleged that he and others had entered into a criminal conspiracy with private companies in the award of contracts for overlays at exorbitant rates.
