Sunil Sadashiv Kulkarni was arrested from Sarai Kale Khan following investigation into a cheating case filed against him at the Lajpat Nagar police station by one Shakshi Kiran, relative of a retired Indian Police Service officer.

"The complainant told us that Kulkarni, who had introduced himself as chairman of a private firm, had promised her that his company would nominate her son Abhiuday as a research associate in Hamburg University soon. He had claimed Abhiuday would get a monthly salary of 1000 Euros," Ajay Chaudhry, additional commissioner of police (southeast), said. Kulkarni in return demanded around Rs 3 lakh.

Once Chandra, who suspected nothing, deposited the amount in his private bank account, he started avoiding her calls.
