7-year-old drowns in pit

A seven-year-old boy was drowned in a water-filled pit dug by a civic body in central Delhi, police said on Saturday. The incident was reported from Ranjeet Nagar last night and the deceased has been identified as Rahul Pandey, a Class III student.

A seven-year-old boy was drowned in a water-filled pit dug by a civic body in central Delhi, police said on Saturday. The incident was reported from Ranjeet Nagar last night and the deceased has been identified as Rahul Pandey, a Class III student.

Missing since yesterday afternoon, Rahul was found drowned last night in a 12-ft deep water-filled pit by a neighbour, who informed police.

Rahul was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he was declared brought dead.

“Yesterday afternoon, he had gone out to play but did not return his home till evening. In the mean time a neighbour found his body in a pit,” a senior police official said.
