The weatherman has warned of heavy to very heavy snowfall in J&K and Himachal Pradesh. As a fallout of that, the icy northwesterly winds, which herald winter chill in the Capital, will bring down the mercury one last time next week.

“Between Friday and Tuesday, the hills and adjoining plains will experience effects of rain and snow,” said B.P. Yadav, Director, Forecasting, IMD.

But before the drop in temperatures, the mercury will rise further this weekend, especially at night, due to the approaching rainbearing system.

Between Sunday and Tuesday, Delhi and nearby areas might receive some showers as well. Fog is likely to make a comeback too.

“We expect winds from the Himalays to carry moisture to the Capital and form dense fog, thanks to the low temperatures,” said a Met official.
