Authorities swung into action following a report in Hindustan Times (India's hijack hotline cold since it started) on Thursday.
Two dedicated lines, which are the safest and fastest mode of communication in case of a hijack, were provided between the COSAH (Committee of Secretaries on Aircraft Hijack) control room and Terminals 1 and 2 of IGI airport. COSAH, headed by the Cabinet Secretary, is the topmost government body to deal with a hijack. But till now they hardly worked.
