Kumar’s unprecedented visit was in response to the Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) invitation. The SCBA even facilitated Kumar for his appointment as the new law minister.
Kumar said he was fully committed to preserving and strengthening the independence of the judiciary and also ensuring that all organs of the state do not work at “cross purposes.”
In a brief interaction with the mediapersons Kumar also spoke on the need for speedy judicial reforms and said efforts will be made to ensure that judicial vacancies are filled up as early as possible.
He also denied being approached by any retired SC judge for a post-retirement job.
