The gold medal winners and their coaches were congratulated by the Prime Minister for doing the country proud by winning a record medal haul in the Guangzhou Games.

Even as the athletes and their coaches were honoured, IOA chief and Commonwealth Games Organising Committee president Suresh Kalmadi was snubbed yet again as he was not invited by the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister did not invite Kalmadi after the Delhi Commonwealth Games also, when he met the CWG medal winners.

Among those present on the occasion were men's and women's 400m hurdles winners Joseph Abraham and AC Ashwini, men's and women's kabbadi players, Bajrang Lal Thakkar, who won India's first gold medal in rowing and men's double trap shooter Ranjan Sodhi.

India won 14 gold, 17 silver and 33 bronze in Guangzhou, their highest number of medals (64), bettering the 57 the country had won in the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi.
