Bedi and Puri rubbed politicians the wrong way with their taunts and antics during the recent agitation in support of a strong Lokpal Bill. Bedi had mocked politicians with her ‘ghoonghat' act at the Ramlila Maidan, while Puri had called them illiterate and incompetent in his outburst.

Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar received privilege notices from a cross-section of members such as SP member Shailendra Kumar, Congress members Jagadambika Pal, PL Punia, Lalchand Kataria, Praveen Aron and BSP member Ramashankar Rajbhar. "The matter is under my consideration," she said.

Agitated SP members raised slogans during the Question Hour, with Shailendra Kumar trooping into the Well of the House.

In Rajya Sabha, deputy chairman K Rahman Khan said privilege notices given by SP member Ramgopal Yadav and independent member Mohd Adeeb were under consideration of the Chairman.

Raising the matter during the Zero Hour, Yadav urged Khan to refer the matter to privilege committee. He said it was shameful on Puri’s part to describe politicians as illiterate and incompetent. JD (U) member Shivanand Tiwari said Hazare too had had little education and he was earlier a truck driver.

"I feel ashamed when an IAS or IPS officer salutes a ganwar (illiterate) who is a neta (leader). We have more than 50% ganwar leaders. Don't vote for them," Puri had said on August 28. On Monday, Puri expressed regret for hurting the sentiments of politicians. Video | I support Om Puri: Anupam Kher | Will respond when receive notice: Bedi
