Sources said the party is aggressively gearing up for the possibility of fresh elections and the BJP cadres have been asked to highlight what they called the ‘pro-people’ budget announced by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday.

“There were two major issues that were discussed in the meeting. To give a fitting reply to Arvind Kejriwal’s baseless allegations and expose him; and to highlight the positive budget unveiled on Friday by our BJP government,” said Satish Upadhyay, Delhi’s BJP chief.

Upadhyay said small corner meetings would be held where people will be told that the acche din had finally arrived for Delhiites as their power bills would come down substantially. “New buses have been ordered, water ATMs will be commissioned and developmental work will start in unauthorised colonies,” he claimed.

A meeting of all district presidents, office-bearers, MLAs, and members of Parliament was held on Saturday in the Delhi BJP office.

Right from putting up hoardings, advertisements and coming out with a four-page booklet highlighting the achievements of the budget, the party is planning become more active across platforms, including the social media.

“The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been defaming us for quite some time and it has increased in the past few days. Our workers will not only go out and expose them but will also tell people that though there is no elected government in Delhi, ache din have arrived for Delhiites, thanks to the Modi government at the Centre,” said a senior BJP leader. Sources further said though a number of MLAs do not want fresh elections, a final decision would be taken by the national leadership.

“Forming a government with the support of AAP or Congress will be suicidal for the party. Not only will that dent our image, but we will not be able to answer the public as we have always opposed them. At the same time, the way things have unfolded in the past few days the environment is not right to form a government,” added the leader.
