The deceased was identified as Lallan (17) and the injured as Bachchan (21) and Azaruddin (35). The cleaner of the bus was behind the wheel when he lost control of the bus. The accident took place around 6 am.
The police arrested the cleaner Hari Kishan and the driver Mohammed Shakeel under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) a more stringent offence than the one usually used in such cases, causing death due to rash and negligent driving.
“The cleaner is not authorised to drive bus, so we decided to book them under a non bailable offence since the act was endangering human life,” said a senior police officer.
In another fatal accident today, a man was crushed under the wheels of a DTC bus in Sangam Vihar in south Delhi. The deceased has not been identified but the police have arrested the driver, Vikram Singh.
