“Rahul Gandhi has been working very hard and it is our duty to make sure he becomes the PM. This can only happen if we work aggressively. He can’t become the PM on his own and needs support from all of us. It is our duty to bury all differences for this to happen,” said Dikshit. She was addressing party workers at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) office on Thursday.

“We need to remain united under JP Aggarwal and no one will be able to defeat us,” she added. Congress general secretaries Shakeel Ahmed and Janardan Dwivedi along with DPCC chief JP Agarwal were also present on the occasion.

Aggarwal, too, reiterated the fact that there was no rift in the party. “It is not a time to fight. We have a single aim and that is to win. The Delhi chief minister has changed the face of the city. We will create history by winning once again,” said Aggarwal.

The newly-elected general secretary of All India Congress Committee and in-charge of Delhi, Shakeel Ahmad, called Dikshit ‘Dilli ki tarakki ka chehra (face of Delhi’s development)’ and said Delhi sets the tone for the rest of the country.

“No general secretary can get you votes. Votes will only come because people have their faith in her (Dikshit), JP Aggarwal, MLAs, councillors and workers of the party,” he said.

In keeping with the poll season, the names of the vice-president, treasurer, another executive of DPCC will be announced on Friday.
