On May 5, Shobhit Modi, an engineering student was found murdered at the gate of C-5 Vasant Kunj, a block away from his house. Despite questioning his friends, local criminals and auto drivers, police have so far failed to get any clue.

"The Delhi Police commissioner has announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000, which will hold good for a period of one year with immediate effect for any one who may give any information regarding the culprits involved in the murder of Shobhit Modi," said Rajan Bhagat, spokesperson, Delhi Police.

On Friday, police had detained four persons including a Shobhit's friend for questioning. Their call records showed they were in the area at the time of the incident but were missing since then. However, so far police have failed to gather any evidence against them to prove their involvement.

Nearly nine teams of police are probing through four aspects to the crime and involvement of local criminals was one of them.

Shobhit's post-mortem report suggests he was killed in a vehicle as the nature of injuries suggests he was sitting when he was attacked.

Shobhit's family had earlier raised doubt over police theory of involvement of local criminals as the belongings of Shobhit were intact.

The police are also probing the role of a close friend of Shobhit who lives in the same locality and had changed 36 mobile numbers in past 12 months.
