The three, who were associated with BEML’s financial and vigilance wings, were quizzed on the suspected irregularities in the content of a 1997-pact between BEML and Tatra Sipox UK.

“Though Tatra Sipox UK was not the original manufacturer of the trucks, it was wrongly shown as the original manufacturer in the deal. The trucks were built by a Czech firm,” said a CBI source.

The officials were also asked why the pact, which was to be in vogue for 10 years, had to be discarded in favour of a new deal in 2003. The CBI suspects the renewal could have aimed at benefiting unidentified officials of the two firms.
