The agency could not restore its site till late Saturday, 18 hours after it was targeted by a group called ‘Pakistani Cyber Army’. The group said its act was in retaliation to the alleged hacking of Pakistani websites by an Indian group on November 26.

A CBI spokesperson said the hackers could damage only the website’s homepage.

On the delay in restoring the site, an agency source said, “The National Informatics Centre is carrying out a security audit to understand the vulnerabilities in the site’s cyber system.”
