Anna Haldar, 14, had given up all hope after her mother, brother and father were buried under the rubble. But on Tuesday morning her phone rang and it was brother Nirmal asking her to get him out.

"I rushed to the rescue workers and told them that my brother was on the phone. They were able to track him with the help of the mobile phone," said Anna. Unfortunately, her parents are still missing.

Similarly, Deepain Haldar's brother also called him up from under the rubble and asked him to get him out. "He was even able to tell me where he was exactly and that is how my friends and I found him," he said.

But some were not so lucky. Jamuna Devi's 50-year-old son Qutub had also called her for help. "He called up from his mobile and said he was still trapped inside. 'Mujhe Bachao' (please rescue me), he said," she said. He is still missing.
