Centre-NSCN talks progress

Raising hopes of an early settlement to end the country's longest running insurgency, negotiators of the Centre and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) on Monday declared they had narrowed down many of their differences and hoped to resolve the remaining few points in the "shortest possible time".

Raising hopes of an early settlement to end the country's longest running insurgency, negotiators of the Centre and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) on Monday declared they had narrowed down many of their differences and hoped to resolve the remaining few points in the "shortest possible time".

The joint statement comes after talks between the Centre interlocutor RS Pandey and NSCN-IM leader Thuingaleng Muivah in Delhi.

"While the differences between the two parties have narrowed, some of the proposals would require further negotiations to reach a mutually acceptable solution," the joint statement issued by Pandey and Muivah said.
