RTI activist Anil Galgali had alleged the flat was meant for economically weaker sections.

"My ailing mother applied for it because we did not own a house in Mumbai, where she would come frequently for cancer treatment," Chavan said.

Galgali said Chavan had claimed an annual income of only Rs 76,000 while buying the flat.
