"The maximum temperature today (Sunday) may touch 45 degrees. The minimum temperature, which was recorded early in the day, was also quite high at 30.7 degrees," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The minimum temperature was four degrees above average.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature settled at 44.5 degrees Celsius.

The IMD official, however, said the skies will be partly cloudy and there is a possibility of rain in some parts of the city later in the day.

The humidity was recorded at 47 per cent.
