A finance company has got a case of cheating and copyright infringement registered against a fictitious company for sending fake appointment letters to several professionals on the pretext of providing lucrative jobs to scores of potential employees, police said.

The accused 'company', headquartered in west Delhi's Janakpuri, according to the police, was offering salaries ranging from R 27,000 to R 1.56 lakh per month and even air-tickets to potential employees in return for a 'security deposit'.

"One Hiral Joshi had received an appointment letter bearing the finance company's copyright logo via email for appointment," said a senior police officer. However, when Joshi, who had been directed to deposit R 9,400 as a refundable security deposit, approached the actual company's headquarters, the administration denied sending him a call letter.

The fictitious call letter, the complaint stated, had been issued in the name of S K Mitra, whose designation was given as an assistant manager, from its office based in west Delhi's Janakpuri.

"However, the actual company not only denied having any office there, it also stated that SK Mitra was one of their former managing directors and his name is being misused for the purpose of defrauding innocent applicants," the officer said.

The complainant company also claimed that it had approached the police with a similar complaint in November, 2011.
