Congress organised a workshop for party spokespersons to equip its "media faces" with facts and figures on the achievements of the UPA government and issues the party will highlight in the campaign.

With the schedule for Lok Sabha elections out, Congress on Monday organised a workshop for party spokespersons to equip its "media faces" with facts and figures on the achievements of the UPA government and issues the party will highlight in the campaign.

"This is an exchange of ideas with the spokespersons. This is an interactive session with political, technical and economic issues," AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters in New Delhi.

He said this will enable the spokespersons and others to understand the issues and spread them across the country.

Over 200 party spokespersons, CLP leaders, PCC Presidents and others are participating in the two-day media orientation programme.

On the first day, senior leaders Salman Khurshid, Abhishek Singhvi, Planning Commission member Balachandra Mungekar, Union Ministers Meira Kumar and Kapil Sibal along with former Home Minister Shivraj Patil spoke on different issues. They also answered the queries of the spokespersons.

On the second day, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and former RBI Governor C Rangarajan will be among the prominent speakers.
