“Without holistic support from the public it would be difficult to make the Games a success,” he said.

The Delhi Police on their part claim that they have taken adequate steps to ensure the Games go incident-free.

If the Delhi Police have their way the school holidays next year might be rescheduled during the time of the Games. So will be the off days of some public and private offices.

“These measures might be taken to keep the traffic on road to the minimum,” he said.

Dadwal also asked people to make maximum use of public transport during the Games.

The closing ceremony falls on a Thursday and the offices can switch Saturday-offs to that day. Similarly, police may also ask traders to close their shops on the same day and do business another day. Dadwal also asked the people to use the Metro rail service.

Commonwealth Games Act

The Act, which is still at proposal stage, might be in place during the Games. Under this Act people may face stringent punishment if they stray into the dedicated lane on Delhi roads marked for vehicles carrying athletes and officials.

This is the proposal given by Delhi Police to the Government, which is formulating a special law for dealing with issues related to Commonwealth Games.

Non-Clonable Identification Card

Even Dadwal would be wearing one of these. To check impersonation during the Games and also for the future the Delhi Police would be issued non-clonable ID Cards, which they would have to wear around their necks. It would have a bar code to check which department an officer is from, and other details.
