"By giving his resignation, he is standing on a high moral ground... He is confident that he will win both politically and morally," state Congress chief Saifuddin Soz told reporters in New Delhi while commenting on Abdullah's resignation in wake of allegations of his involvement in the 2006 sex scandal in Srinagar.

To a question, he said "Governor's rule is out of question."

He said Cong and National Conference, which is heading the coalition government, are together. "The crisis is temporary... We will find a solution to this crisis... We all together. All MLAs are together. We shall go by consensus and democratic norm," Soz said.

Abdullah tendered his resignation after a senior PDP leader Muzaffar Beig made a serious allegation that he was involved in the 2006 sex scandal.
