Farmhouses in green/agricultural areas that came up before February 7, 2007, can be regularised after paying a penalty, as per the notification.

According to an official estimate, there are 2,731 farmhouses in Delhi, covering a total of 6,000-7,000 hectares. Most of these are in south Delhi areas, such as Chattarpur and Mehrauli.

As per the Special Provisions Act 2011, all farmhouses with construction beyond the permissible limit are included in the unauthorised developments category, against which no punitive action can be taken till December 31, 2014.

But with DDA’s policy to allow regularisation, which will cover majority of the farmhouses in the Capital, these properties are off the hook.
