The Met Department is predicting similar weather conditions on Friday with dense fog in the morning and temperature oscillating between seven and 18 degree Celsius.

The minimum temperature was recorded at eight degree Celsius as against yesterday's 8.1 degrees while the maximum was at 17.1 degrees, a senior official at the Met Department said.

The thick layer of fog began descending on Delhi at around midnight, the Met said.

Those who drove vehicles in the morning had to put on fog lights as the visibility dropped to below 100 metres, though it increased as the day progressed.

The pace of vehicular traffic was slow in the morning due to fog. Some trains are also running late, officials said.

The operations at the airport here were affected. Around 25 international and domestic flights were delayed by up to two to three hours while 10 domestic flights to Agartala, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Chennai, Amritsar, Lucknow, Leh and Coimbatore were cancelled due to the fog.

The airport had witnessed shallow fog during the day yesterday, but it did not disrupt the flight movements as visibility was manageable and there was no problem in landing and take-off till late evening.
