Depressed over illness, woman hangs herself

A 40-year-old woman, daughter-in-law of an ex-councilor committed suicide in her residence in north Delhi on Wednesday.

She was apparently depressed about her medical condition. The family members of the woman informed local police about the incident at 10 am.

“The woman has been identified as Reema Sharma. She lived with her husband and two children. Reema was under depression owing to an illness,” said a senior police officer.

According to the police, her husband and children were not in the house at the time of incident. The police has sent her body for post mortem and the report is awaited. Further investigations are on in the case.

Reema got married about 20 years ago and had a son and daughter. Her husband had not been earning enough and since she was suffering from a illness, it took heavy toll on his income. This apparently drove her to suicide.
