Dinakaran impeachment motion today

Justice PD Dinakaran will become the first High Court Chief Justice against whom a motion for starting impeachment (removal) proceedings will be served by more than 75 Rajya Sabha MPs, reports Nagendar Sharma.

On Monday, Justice PD Dinakaran will become the first High Court Chief Justice against whom a motion for starting impeachment (removal) proceedings will be served by more than 75 Rajya Sabha MPs.

Dinakaran is currently chief justice of the Karnataka High Court. An impeachment motion in the Rajya Sabha needs the support of at least 50 members to be introduced.

With the government and the Supreme Court unwilling to probe the serious charges of land grabbing and corruption against Dinakaran, the MPs have decided to submit the motion to Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari.

Leader of the opposition, Arun Jaitley and senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury are likely to lead the opposition delegation to submit the motion.
