While water development charges would be Rs 405 per sq metre, sewerage development would cost Rs 455 per sq metre - up from Rs 329 per sq metre and Rs 369 per sq metre, respectively.

"These charges would be applicable to the residents where water and sewer lines have been laid recently or would be laid in near future. This is not to be confused with water charges," said a senior DJB official.

"It is only the notification that is issued today (Tuesday). The decision to this effect was earlier taken at the 103rd board meeting held on May 30," said another DJB official. "The provision of payment in installment with interest component as per the existing policy will continue," he added.

A property owner will get rebate of 20% on total due amount if the same is deposited in lump sum within three months while after expiry of three months, the rebate will be reduced to 10%. In case of installments or payment after an year of notification, interest at the rate 12% per annum would be levied.
