DU student beaten to death
An 18-year-old DU student, who was attacked by a group of boys at Mukherjee Nagar on December 10, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night. HT reports.
An 18-year-old DU student, who was attacked by a group of boys at Mukherjee Nagar on December 10, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Manoj alias Vicky, was a student of Ramjas College.
According to police, he was admitted to the Sushruta Trauma Centre Hospital.
“He was attacked by a group of boys over personal enmity, at Mukherjee Nagar on December 10. On the fateful day, the attackers thrashed him in Hudson Lane area with hockey sticks while the victim, along with two of his friends, was having tea," said a senior police officer.
“A car stopped in front of him and seven youths came out of it. They first picked an argument with Manoj and then started beating him up with hockey sticks. The accused managed to flee after beating him,” the officer added.
His friends staged protests over the death at the trauma centre, demanding action against the culprits.
“A case was registered, (now under charges of murder), the officer said. Further investigations are on in the case, police said.
