It has come to the notice of the commission that some senior officers in the State Secretariat, other than the Election Department, were issuing oral or telephonic instructions to the election related officers posted in the state or district which may be at variance with the instructions of the commission,” an instruction issued on Wednesday said.

Taking a serious note of the violation of election process, the commission has directed that the district officers to comply only with written orders which are in consonance with the instructions of the commission.

It has also advised the state secretariat officials not to issue any oral or telephonic instructions to the officials engaged in election management.
