Engineer shot at outside his home

A 42-year-old civil engineer was shot at near his home in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase III on Monday, police said. "Sunil Kumar Soni had just kept his office supplies in his car when an assailant fired at him twice and hit him in the left arm and stomach. Soni threw his cell phone at the assailant who fired a third shot and fled," said a police officer. Soni is a deputy manager with the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC).

"It looks like the assailant knew Soni beforehand. Investigation has revealed that the assailant was seen surveying the area before the attack," the officer said.

"Soni is recuperating at Metro Hospital, Noida. We have registered a case of attempt to murder. We are investigating the case," the officer added.
