Execs take to streets, seek better amenities

Executives of top companies like Bharti Airtel, IBM and others were also out on the streets to raise their voice against builder Orchid Infrastructure Developers Private Limited (OIDPL).
The flat owners’ association submitted a memorandum at the society office and threatened not to pay maintenance charges. Orchid Petals is one of the largest societies in Gurgaon with more than 1,200 flats.
Maintenance of the complex was unilaterally handed over by the developer to Perfect Facilities Management Private Limited some time ago.
Residents alleged that despite paying hefty charges for maintenance, the developers had failed to provide basic infrastructure.
“Basement parking for the second and third phase is not ready. Security and other facilities are not at par with the heavy amount being charged,” said Vinay Mitra, general secretary of the association.
People gathered in large numbers at the main gate of the society and staged a dharna.
“We have also decided not to pay the latest bill until the maintenance company gets the account books audited in a transparent manner by a chartered accountant firm appointed by our association,” Mitra further said.
OIDPL started giving possession of the apartments in March 2009 and more than 800 occupants have shifted in till now.
Residents also alleged that OIDPL arbitrarily increased the super-built area and collected additional payment for it.
Complaining of poor service and non-receipt of various facilities which they had already paid for, the agitated protestors claimed the club and basement parking for the second and third phase were not ready.
“The condition is pathetic. What is the point in paying so much money for maintenance when there are no results?” asked resident Sandeep Sharma.
