The Congress takes a dig at the BJP, saying it should explain how the NDA Govt functioned without its Home Minister LK Advani being aware of the developments.

The Congress on Monday took a dig at the BJP over the Kandahar issue, saying it should explain to the country how the NDA government functioned without its Home Minister LK Advani being aware of the developments during India’s hour of crisis.

“The statement of the BJP president (Rajnath Singh) supporting LK Advani’s stand on Kandahar shows that all the errors, the misrepresentations, the wrongs, false statements and the slant given on several issues by Advani in his book stand adopted by the BJP,” AICC spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.

He said the BJP should also explain to the country the “falsehood” of Advani’s statement on Kandahar, which it said has been exposed by the then Defence Minister George Fernandes and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah as also “numerous errors ranging from US Ambassador (Robert) Blackwill’s invention in 1999 to (communist leader Satyapal) Dang’s premature death.”

“The BJP needs to explain... how its government functioned without the Home Minister being aware of critical developments...,” he said.
